King George Roscoe P-Coltrane the First

King George Roscoe P-Coltrane the First
Viva and Jerry, from Viva and Jerry's Country Music Videos, love our little (relative term) basset hound. Jerry thinks he swaggers like a king, so we all started calling him King George. This is the picture we took of george this year (his crown is from BK) that we framed and gave to Viva and Jerry as a Christmas present.

Feeling the St. Paul PD's Fire and Brimstone

So, I saw a funny news story today in the Star Tribune. Apparently, Saturday night one of the Vulcans from the Vulcan Krewe of the St. Paul Winter Carnival backed their "Royal Chariot" into a parked car and then into a retaining wall. People tried to stop him, asking that he leave his insurance information and instead he sped off!! Did he really think someone wasn't going to recognize the one of a kind antique fire truck that says "Vulcan Krewe" across the side and in St. Paul no less?

Apparently, the St. Paul PD was called and they found the truck abandoned in an alley behind Alaray's Bar later that night. When the investigators spoke to the truck's registered owner he said he thought he hit ICE!? HA And that he didn't recall people asking him to leave his insurance information. Hmm... $20 says the guy was drunk?

It's too bad though, its not the kind of press the Winter Carnival is looking for on their 125th Anniversary. Especially, since this isn't the first time the Vulcans have been in trouble in the last few years. Not too long ago I remember a story about a sexual harassment suit, seems like a few of these guys have been smoking a little too much fire and brimstone.

Meet Rocky

George and I met Rocky at Chuck and Don's when we volunteered at the Basset Buddies Rescue's Meet and Greet at the Highland Park location in St. Paul. (Last Sunday of every Month! Come see us!) Rocky is a very sweet Basset. He's 9 years old and looking for a forever home. (He's actually quite a spunky 9 year old, likes to play with his foster retriever sibling.) In the meantime, he's staying with a very nice lady who specializes in fostering senior citizens. She usually fosters retrievers but happened upon a friend of Rocky's on Pet Finder who helped her meet Rocky. So she appreciated my insights on the breed. (Try explaining the bassets to someone whose not used to bassets, its comical - such a silly breed.) HA! It turns out, I found out later, that the woman fostering Rocky is actually one of our neighbor's mom - and we had no idea! Small world. But Rocky is a very sweet, mellow boy who is more than happy to snuggle with you or melt into your hand as you scratch his ear, so if you have a little room in your heart and your home, please check out Rocky today!
